Step 1 : To prepare this recipe, the green plantain is cooked in a pot with water for 10 minutes over medium heat.
Step 2 : After cooking, mash it and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
Step 3 : Then knead until achieving a solid consistency and adjust the amount of salt if necessary.
Step 4 : Once the plantain purée is ready, form balls that will become the arepas and shape them accordingly.
Step 5 : These are cooked on a griddle or skillet for 5 minutes on each side.
