Andean Arepas
Ingredients
3 cups of Wheat flour
2 tablespoons of Sugar
2 tablespoons of Melted butter
1 cup of Milk
1 Egg
1 teaspoon of Baking powder
1 teaspoon of Salt
Preparation
Step 1 : In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
Step 2 : Then, add the butter, the lightly beaten egg, and gradually pour in the milk.
Step 3 : Mix all ingredients until a homogeneous dough is formed.
Step 4 : Next, knead the dough for about 10 minutes and let it rest covered for 15 minutes.
Step 5 : Afterward, roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut circles approximately the size of an arepa, with a thickness of half a centimeter.
Step 6 : To cook the arepas, it's recommended to use a griddle or non-stick skillet over low heat.
Step 7 : Cook each side for 3 to 5 minutes, until golden.
Step 8 : Finally, serve accompanied by natilla (custard), cheese, butter, or your preferred dressing.
